More information about the featured artists and works:

The movie Milongueros has the goal of telling the traditional tango of the milongas in Buenos Aires. Each night, in the most historical and important milongas of Buenos Aires, the milongueros tell and explain, not only how Tango is a wonderful and sensual dance, but how it is a “way of life”. In order to find the truth hidden in the true tango, the film crew follows and interviews, with the help of Jorge Juanatey (tango teacher and expert), the most famous milongueros still-living - Alberto Dassieu, Flaco Dany, El Nene Masci, Hector Pellozo Cachirulo, Julio Duplaa, Ricardo Suarez, Tito Roca, Tito Escarpe Franquelo. What is really unique is the permission the filmmakers obtained to "sneak in" with the camera at the most famous milongas like Cachirulo, Nino Bien, Porteno y Bailarin, El Beso, Sin Rumbo. Hence, the documentary tells and shows the night side of the Argentine capital that only a select few know.

Daniel Garcia, known as Flaco Dany, a mythical character from the milongas of Buenos Aires popular among tango aficionados all over the world will be this year's special guest at the Gran Milonga. He belongs to the group and the generation of the famous milongueros and is one of the main stars of the documentary that will be screened before the milonga. He is the living history of tango having danced for more than 60 years. His relationship with tango started with the naturalness of everyday life in an environment where everyone danced to this music. Today he is an icon for tango and milonga con traspie and travels frequently to Europe and the US, where his followers are waiting to attend his workshops. Apart from his dance, he conveys the culture, essence and evolution of tango and for the last 5 years, he’s been part of the jury in the Tango World Championship. And where he is not travelling he can be found dancing restlessly togrther with his friends milongueros at one of the milongas in Buenos Aires. At the age of 77, this is his way to stay always young and fit.

On 11 December during the Gran Milonga in Sofia Hall of Interpred, Flaco Dany will perform a special show with Lucia Mirzan, a dancer and teacher of tango from Bucharest, Romania.

The visit of Flaco Dany has been organized in cooperation with Tango & Pepper.
